Hello. My newest baby is about 6 weeks old and I seem to be constantly struggling with diaper rash. I use creams and powders and change her often but it doesn’t seem to get any better. I didn’t have any trouble with my older two so this is a new struggle. Does anyone have advice or is anyone experiencing the same thing?

It may not seem….practical, but when I’ve noticed a red bottom on my little one, I just let her lay on the changing table with a new diaper under her to catch messes and leave it open for a few minutes…just to let the air get to it 🙂 It seems to provide a bit of relief for her!

@lendychapman – Thank you so much for responding! That is a very good idea and I can’t wait to try it. One more question, could this be caused by the dry winter air and is it something that possibly improve as she gets older? Just looking for a light at the end of the tunnel… Thanks!

Of course!! You know, the crazy weather we have going on could affect it, but I am not sure. Did you talk to your doctor? What were their suggestions? I hope it gets better for you and she both as she gets bigger! Diaper rashes are no fun for anybody 🙁

@lendychapman – Unfortunately I was couldn’t get in to my usual doctor for my last appointment. The doctor I did see recommended cream and changing more often but he didn’t offer much advice beyond that. It’s funny how different babies can be, my first two seemed to pretty much follow the same pattern but this one has been surprising me with a whole new set of challenges!

Babies are definitely very much their own creatures with very distinct personalities and needs….that’s what makes it more fun 😉 I’d definitely keep the doctor posted on how she is doing and hopefully they can provide insight to give more relief!
