I have a child with Epilepsy and I have been doing a lot of research on my own about the ketogenic diet for treatment. Is there anyone who has any experience with this? I would love to know if anyone has had any success reducing seizures with the diet, but I would be interested in any feedback (good or bad) at all.

Thanks!

Hi @threelittleones
I also have a child with epilepsy and spoke to our doctor about this diet. Fortunately my son’s seizures have been well controlled with medications so the doctor didn’t think that we would see much help from trying this. If you haven’t had a lot of luck with finding a medication that will work for you, it might be worth asking your doctor about it. If you are newly diagnosed though, it might be better to wait and see if you can control the seizures with meds as the diet seems like it might be difficult to maintain. Anyway, this is just my experience, but I hope the info helps.

hi @threelittleones. My nephew has epilepsy and my sister in law has been using the keto diet. I believe that it has helped him out overall but I know that she struggles with trying keep him on track with his foods as he doesn’t necessarily want to eat only the things that are on the plan. I know Halloween was tough for him as all his friends got to eat candy and he didn’t. Best of luck!
