Our recent Kids’ Kidney Center support group with special guests from the TransLife/DonateLife Organization was a huge success! We had a total of 34 people in attendance and was able to have some great discussions about kidney transplants. Thank you for everyone who attended and be on the lookout for a blog post to further the discussion about kidney transplants! Attached is a photo of all three guest speakers.

Corey Bryant is the Public Education Coordinator for TransLife, East Central Florida’s federally-designated organ and tissue donor program. TransLife is dedicated to saving and improving lives through donation and public education, while honoring donors and their loved ones, whose generosity makes the gift of life possible. For more information on registering to be an organ, eye, and tissue donor, visit http://www.DonateLifeFlorida.org.

Darren Sussman is a Central Florida kidney and pancreas recipient who works tirelessly to share the importance of organ and tissue donation within the community. He is a former TransLife Volunteer of the Year and has produced a documentary about his own experience with donation and transplantation, called The Casey Connection. It is all part of his effort to connect with his donor and his family, and to honor the precious gift of life that has been given.

Cari Mutnick became a living hero when she donated her left kidney to her father, who was suffering from end-stage renal failure four years ago. Since their transplant procedure, Cari and her father, Joel, enjoy perfect health, including biking, running and healthy cooking. Cari lives in Central Florida where she is a speech pathologist for young children. She is an active volunteer in sharing the life-saving message of organ and tissue donation within the community.
